Ecclesiology concerns the self-understanding of the Church. Students will be introduced to the various perspectives in ecclesiology today. Topics include the images of the Church; the influences and the consequences of the Second Vatican Council and its understanding of the Church; the papacy; and the Church seen as communion. This course will include a detailed reading of Lumen Gentium, the Constitution on the Church.
